The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of us have become habituated to certain behaviors and routines. These habits become ingrained in our brains and affect what we do day to day. We can choose to change our habits, or we can choose to accept that we’ll have to deal with things in a certain way from now on. We can train ourselves to be more mindful or more un-mindful.
The fact is that what we do is largely based on our habits and routines. For example, we don’t want to be late for a soccer game. We want to be a good sport. So we do have to get out of our car. We have to give up our car and drive away. We don’t want to be late for a football game or a basketball game. We don’t want to be late for a tennis match.
These are habits. You can train yourself to be more mindful or more un-mindful.
Now we know that this is a very personal thing. The habits we have to train ourselves to be mindful of are our habits and routines. For example, when we play a video game, we have to remember to play the game as we normally would. And so on. We can learn to be more mindful (for example, by practicing yoga in the car, or going to the gym) or more un-mindful (for instance, by practicing meditation regularly).
Learning to be more mindful can be done in many different ways, and you can train yourself to be more un-mindful by practicing meditation. We just learned that meditation is an excellent way to improve one’s memory. Remember, you don’t have to meditate to improve your memory, but it is a very good way to practice it. It has been shown that people with better memory are able to perform better on tasks that require attention or memory.
