This is a method that I use to learn to model the natural environment in which I live, while working in my own home. While my main focus is just in getting the right things to work out—it does not make sense to be in the same room as everyone else, which is a huge problem.

Imagine being in a class. Students are sitting in a row, and you are in the front row. However, there are two students sitting in the back. If you are a student, there is a way to talk to one of the other students and ask them to answer your question, but you only have enough time to ask one question a day, so you talk to the student in front of you.

This is the same problem stochastic modeling is solving. In stochastic modeling there is not a single correct answer, but a number of plausible answers. The goal is to find a solution that is the most likely given all the known data. The stochastic modeling approach is a way to do this by finding the distribution of the answer(s) a given question is likely to produce.

If you know that a set of darts is going to be thrown at several locations with a probability of 1 in 3.5, you can calculate the most likely number of darts going in at each location. Then take that as the most likely answer.

It’s not exactly the most efficient method of doing research, but stochastic modeling is a way of finding answers that are often found in the real world. It’s not a method of modeling anything specific, but rather a method of finding a general answer to any question. It’s hard to imagine it being used for anything specific, but in science, it’s used for finding the best theories and general solutions to a problem.

The best way for a scientist to look at things is with stochastic modeling. It allows you to test and compare different models of an issue or problem. A real-world problem might have a relatively simple answer given a particular set of assumptions, but if there are new or unknown assumptions to be made, then new and more efficient methods of doing the research will need to be developed.
